Taiwan’s largest coffee chain the 85 Degree Bakery Cafe is enjoying succes after launching new product “salt coffee”. It looks like they managed to change Taiwanian coffee drinker’s habits and more customers started to order Salt Coffee rather than black or sugared coffee.

Cathy Chung, spokeswoman for the 85 Degree Bakery Cafe says that one outlet may sell even 700 cups of Salt Coffee a day, wich is more than 20% of they daily sale of branded coffees.

How do they prepare salt coffee? They add small amount of ocean salt, which is not refined, to the creamy foam and then it is chilled and added to a cup of coffee.

Why the taste is so unique? Salt opens buds of tongue and make the falvours more recognizable.

Anyway I wonder how it taste, telling the truth I tried a once – someone told me it’is great cure for hangover, but if it works – it’s hard to say.

I wonder also how would taste they other products they plan to sell – coffee with chesse and friuts.
